Interesting facts about spermidine: Stimulation of autophagy as a fountain of youth. Spermidine is an endogenous - i.e. naturally occurring - substance in the human body that is important for many molecular and cellular mechanisms. It was first discovered in male seminal fluid - hence the name - but is also found in foods such as wheat germ, pulses, mature cheese and mushrooms. Preclinical research shows that spermidine not only stimulates the body's own self-cleaning processes, but also has positive effects on many degenerative diseases associated with ageing. Spermidine is said to cross the blood-brain barrier, improve cognitive performance and even prevent dementia.
