L-tryptophan is also considered a precursor of melatonin. L-tryptophan is one of the essential amino acids. It is responsible for the production of the "happiness hormone" serotonin.

The capsule shells are of plant origin and contain the thickening agent HPMC (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose).They are vegan and water-soluble and can therefore be digested particularly easily and well.
